A Little Late......

Here is a little peek at our 4th of July fun. It was a washout but in between rainstorms we went outside and did a few sparklers.

Linville Caverns

On our way to the mountains last weekend we decided to take a little side trip to Linville Caverns. The weather was not the best 60 degrees and raining but it really doesn't matter too much when you will be underground. The kids had a great time and even asked to go back on the way home Sunday.

They learned about Civil War deserters who used the caverns as a hideout, and a little geology of the stalactites, stalagmites, and other formations found in the cavern. We are studying NC History this year so we will be sure to add this to our NC notebook we are making.

We had to make our way around some tight places.....

Adrienne was fascinated with the algae that formed here.

A fire ring used during the Civil War.

No trip is complete unless you get his and hers guns!!

Camp Quotes

Cole got back from Triangle Kids Camp this afternoon and it is so good to have him home. He has been so excited to tell us his stories about camp. Here are a few of my favorite quotes.

"To get on my top bunk I had to climb on top of a desk, then onto the wardrobe, and then onto my bed."

"I did think about you one time....I was wondering if you would be mad when I got two desserts."

"Do you want me to tell you the truth about my money?"

"Getting up early to workout with Jeff and Artie was AWESOME"

"Do you think I drank Mountain Dew?"

"Why do I still have flour in my hair?"

"Artie said we had to do nice pranks this year."

"Pastor Kevin went and got us pizza for our church group time and it was sooo good."

"There was a carrot that goes to camps and terrorizes kids."

Bridging

I am way behind on all my "what's going on in our lives" posts. We are enjoying our summer so that is a good excuse!

A few weeks ago Adrienne had her Bridging Ceremony moving from Daisies to Brownies. She has enjoyed Daisies and has made a lot of new friends. One of her leaders is moving up to Brownies with them so I am sure it will be an easy move in the fall.

Here is Adrienne walking across the bridge!
